FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS
PROBLEM OVERVIEW:
One or both Write Cache Batteries have been determined as failed or nearing expiration, by the system.
WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:
1. Using CAM, preferably the customer's instance, confirm the existence of a Failed, Over Temperature, or Charge Capacity Below Threshold fault.
DO NOT REPLACE if the battery is nearing expiration, or expired. Reset the battery age.
2. Follow the Battery Removal and Replacement instructions in the CAM Service Advisor(SA) for the array.
NOTE: There are instructions in the SA that state not to remove the battery if the Blue LED on the battery is NOT LIT. This LED status can be ignored.
3. Verify that the battery is charging, then repeat for the other battery.
WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:
1. Verify that the battery age has been reset for each battery replaced.
2. Verify that the alarms for battery have been removed from the alarms list
3. Notify the customer that the battery charge for each battery can take up to 14 hours before write cache is restored.
