Goal

Vshell_lite is a tool to allow customers to copy files from the SVA or VSM products to a Windows based PC. These files can then be provided to support for remote analysis.

The 'Vshell_lite FAQ' is provided to help explain the reasons for and value of using vshell_lite.

Solution

To accomplish the task for copying the logs from the SVA or VSM products:

  1. Save the 'vshell_lite.zip' attachment to a Windows based PC and unzip the files.   The files are the following:
    • Vshell_lite User Guide
    • Vshell_lite Command Help
    • Vshell_lite.exe Application Program
  2. Follow the steps in the User Guide to configure and use vshell to copy files from VSM or SVA system.

To send files for review by Oracle support:

  • Primary Method:
Use My Oracle Support (MOS) portal to upload data (less than 2GB file size).

For larger file sizes or if for some reason not able to upload data via MOS, you can use one of the alternate methods below:

  • Alternate Methods:

    >>> IMPORTANT <<<
    >>
Rename data file adding the MOS SR # x-xxxxxxxxxx to beginning of file name so that it will be automatically saved to a directory associated with this SR.

NOTE: Valid SR syntax must be followed, see example below:

    Valid SR syntax = 3-3938604365
    Invalid SR syntax = 33938604365 or 3.3938604365, 3_3938604365, etc.
    1. Upload to Supportfile
      • FTP (Browser):
        https://supportfiles.sun.com/upload

        put file under cores directory
      • FTP (CLI) :

        ftp supportfiles.sun.com
        login: anonymous
password: user@machine [ your email address]
        cd cores
        binary [ set transfer mode]
        put <file name>
        quit

Update SR and/or send email with -- exact file name -- uploaded and data location to support engineer to notify data has been sent.

    2. Email

Email data separately to [email protected] (10 MB limit) with SR # in email subject line to make sure it gets automatically saved to a directory associated with this SR.

Update SR and/or send email with -- exact file name -- sent to support engineer to notify data has been sent.
