faulty Rear Blower.

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :

The rear blower on the server is hot-swappable.

WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:
1. Gain access to the rear of the server where the faulty blower unit is located.

2. Release the cable management arm tab and swing the cable management arm out of the way so you can access the power supply.

3. Unscrew the two thumbscrews that secure the rear blower to the chassis.

4. Grasp the thumbscrews and slowly slide the blower out of the chassis, keeping the blower level as you remove it.

5. Unpackage the replacement blower.

6. Slide the blower into the chassis until it locks into the power connector at the front of the blower compartment

7. Tighten the two thumbscrews to secure the blower to the chassis.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS:
When replacing a fan, it is important to know, how to distinguish between a CPU/front fan and a Rear fan (blower).

The CPU fans will be reported as FT0/FMx (x= 0,1,2) and the rear fan (blower) reported as FT2 (in prtdiag, showenvironment and ALOM logs).

- Output from "sc> showenvironment"

Fans Status:
---------------------------------------------------
Fans (Speeds Revolution Per Minute):
Sensor           Status        Speed   Warn    Low
---------------------------------------------------
FT0/FM0          OK             3650     --   1920     <-- front CPU fan FM0
FT0/FM1          OK             3437     --   1920     <-- front CPU fan FM1
FT0/FM2          OK             3586     --   1920     <-- front CPU fan FM2
FT2              OK             2594     --   1900     <-- Rear Blower

- Example of an error from the front (CPU) fan module FT0/FM2:
SC Alert: [ID 407631 daemon.error] SYS_FAN at FT0/FM2 has FAILED.

- Example of a Rear Blower (FT2) fan error:
