Basic hardware skills, familiarity or training for T2000 platform recommended but not required.

FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS


PROBLEM OVERVIEW: T2000 HBA PCI Card replacement

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :

Customer should shut the operating system down gracefully (using "init 0" ). Then, at the OK prompt Type #. (in key sequence) to get into Alom.
Run the following commands from the ALOM:
1. setlocator on
2. poweroff

WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:
1. Shutting the System Down

2. Extending the Server to the Maintenance Position

3. Performing Electrostatic Discharge Prevention Measures

4. Disconnecting Power From the Server

5. Removing the Top Cover

6. Unpackage the replacement HBA PCI-Express or PCI-X card and place it on an antistatic mat.

7. Locate the proper socket for the card you are replacing. Note where the PCI card is installed, and note any cables so you know where to
reinstall the card and cables.

8. Remove HBA and any cables that are attached to the card.

9. Rotate the PCI hold-down bracket 90 degrees so you can install the card.

10. Insert New HBA card into the socket and re-install any cables to the original location.

11. Rotate the PCI hold-down bracket 90 degrees to lock the card in place.

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE

WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:

Power on, boot and test functionality of system, verify no service LEDs or error messages.
1. Run the Solaris "fmadm faulty" and SP/ILOM "show faulty" command (if only ALOM is supported run "showfaults -v" command) to verify that the fault has been cleared.
2. Perform one of the following tasks based on your verification results:
   * If the previous steps did not clear the fault, refer to doc 1004229.1 for information about the tools and methods you can use to diagnose and clear component faults.
   * If the previous steps indicate that no faults have been detected, then the component has been replaced successfully. No further action is required

Customer restart software applications per applicable administration guides to resume system operation.
