WHAT SKILLS DOES THE ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED:
Basic Sun hardware skills, familiarity or training for X4200 platform.

TIME ESTIMATE: 60 minutes

TASK COMPLEXITY: 0

FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :

Server has two power supply redundancy. The server can remain running if replacing only one power supply. If, not Customer should shut the operating system down gracefully (using "init 0").

WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:

1. Identify which power supply you will replace.

2. Disconnect the power cord from the power supply that you are replacing. The power supplies are hot-swappable, so you do not have to shut down the server or disconnect the second power supply.

3. Remove the power supply.

4. Installation is the reverse of this procedure.

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE

WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:
Restart system and have the System administrator verify functionality of system.
