FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS
PROBLEM OVERVIEW:
Faulty or defective LED Switch Board (Front Panel Indicator Board)
WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :
Data backup not required but recommended as a precaution
Orderly shutdown of applications
Shutdown of OS and power down of server
WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:
Ensure standard ESD procedures are followed
1. Power off the server and disconnect (REMOVE) the power cords
2. Remove the main (top) cover
3. Remove the front bezel (use Philips screwdriver to unscrew the screw found under the fan bay door)
4. Remove the front cover by holding fan bay door open, sliding forward and raising from the back
5. Unscrew two screws at the front that hold the LED Switch Board to the chassis
6. Whilst supporting the board, push it towards the center of the chassis (left to right) to disengage from connector
7. Install replacement LED Switchboard (gently pushing from right to left into connector)
8. Re-install screws and tighten using adjustable torque, set to 7 in-lbs (0.8 Nm)
9. Replace front cover, bezel and main cover
10. Re-connect power cords
OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE
WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:
Power on and bring up system. Verify LEDs on front panel
