How To Remove and Replace V210 Power Supply

WHAT SKILLS DOES THE ENGINEER NEED: (IS A SITE ENGINEER AVAILABLE?)
Nothing beyond basic partner training to be qualified as a Sun Service Delivery Partner.

FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS

PROBLEM OVERVIEW: Power Supply Failure

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :

System uses a single power supply configuration, the customer should take normal precautions to backup data, notify users of the maintenance and that the system will be powered down. The customer should conduct an orderly software system shutdown.

WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:

Follow standard ESD procedures to avoid Electrostatic Discharge

Remove the power supply:

1.Power off the server

2.Disconnect the power cable.

3.Pull down the lever on the back of the power supply unit.

4.Slide the PSU out of the server's chassis by pulling on the PSU lever

Replace the power supply:

1.Locate the replacement PSU in the PSU bay.

2.Slide the PSU into the server until it attaches (seats) to the power distribution board inside.

3.Press the lever until it clicks.

4.Power the server back on.

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE

WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN the SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:

Restart software applications per applicable administration guides to resume system operation.
