Goal

To configure unidirectional CHAP for Solaris iSCSI initiator.

To discuss this information further with Oracle experts and industry peers, we encourage you to review, join or start a discussion in the My Oracle Support Community - 7000 Series ZFS Appliances

Fix

In the case of unidirectional CHAP, initiator will provide the CHAP user name and secret to the target.

On your Solaris iSCSI initiator host use the following steps to enable CHAP.

# iscsiadm modify initiator-node -a chap
# iscsiadm modify initiator-node -H initchap
# iscsiadm modify initiator-node -C  <- Set a password of length 12 to 16 characters.

Note down the 'Initiator node name' using the following command for later use.

# iscsiadm list initiator-node

Now login to your Sun Storage 7000,  identify the above iSCSI initiator iqn in the list of iqn(s) under

Configuration -> SAN -> Initiator -> iSCSI Initiator

and click the pencil icon to edit
(Hint: move the mouse over the iqn in question to see the pencil icon)

[ Note: If the initiator is not yet added and is not in the list, you may add it now, by using the icon '+' next to 'iSCSI Initiator' and provide the iqn which was noted above ].

Fill in the following CHAP details

Use CHAP              <- tick
Initiator CHAP name   <- initchap (same as above)
Initiator CHAP secret <- (same as above)
Click 'ok'

Now back on the Solaris iscsi initiator host, perform the discovery.

# iscsiadm modify discovery -t enable
OR
# iscsiadm modify discovery -s enable

Check to see if the mapped target(s) and lun(s) are enumerated.

# iscsiadm list target -S
