Description
Shared memory violation

Shared memory is volatiled and how to recover recent configuration changes.

Recent configuration changes on the SE99x0 subsystem can generally be recovered without having to go through configuration reload which force SVP - Define Configuration and Install.

Steps to Follow
Sun StorEdge[TM] 99x0: Recovery from lost configuration

Shared memory is volatiled SIM is generated when the subsystem is brought back up. Recent configuration has not been saved into CHA and DKA Flash Memory and there fore lost after a power disruption.

This situation can happen when a site lost complete power to the subsystem. For example, problem with battery power supply or power was not brought down correctly. (See FAB < Solution: 200847 > ).

Identifying followed by reapplying those changes restore subsystem configuration to their previously working configuration. In such a case, there are additional cu:ldev port mapping done recently and configuration is restored by manually remapping cu:ldev to channel ports.

Collect configuration changes depending on what is available on site:

- On site record on any changes done on the subsystem.

- SVP floppy disk contains latest configuration if updated correctly on every changes done to the subsystem.
Use off_tool to generate subsystem configuration, which is available from microcode CD, under directory <CD-ROM>\ToolsPack\Config\

- [[link:https://rm-portal.central.sun.com:3031|Sun Hitrack server]] or from HDS partner Xchange Hi-track configuration website contain configuration subsystem configuration. This configuration database is updated on weekly basis and therefore may not contain very recent changes.

Typical SIM calls for action code Config Resetup after Shared Memory volatiled error message.
