Description

This article explains changing the external ip address and gateway on SVP.

Solution

Steps to Follow

SECTION-A.
Change IP address at the Storage Navigator window on the admin workstation.

Step 1.
From the admin workstation

1) Login to the Storage Navigator,
2) Do an initial discover of the subsystem.
3a)If you are using Storage Navigator Version 2.4 and earlier - Click on the Physical View - Add Subsystem (Model, IP Address, etc)
3b)If you are using Version 3.0 and later - click on Subsystems in Information Panel and then add Subsystem in Object Frame, When Storage Navigator sees this is an already managed system ( same model type and serial number ) it will simply change the IP Address for the subsystem.

Step 2.
If you have a generic name assigned for the subsystem

1)Click / Choose the subsystem.
2)Click on Properties.
3)Edit name for the subsystem corresponding to the new IP address.

SECTION-B

Change the External IP address and gateway at the SVP (Laptop)
1)On the SVP (Laptop) go to 'My computer',
2)Click on 'My Network Settings'

NOTE :- You will see 2 Network adapters here, One should be named LAN (Intel Pro/100VE Network)and this will always have the IP of 126.x.x.15 (where "x.x" is based on the subsystem serial number)

This is the internal network adapter - DO NOT MAKE ANY CHANGES ON THIS NETWORK ADAPTER.

3) Now, choose the other Network Adapter and right click on it, choose properties from the submenu.
4) Click or highlight the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).
5) Click on Properties, Here you can specify or change the external IP address, subnet mask and the gateway.
6) Click ok

At this point your External IP address to the SVP and the gateway will be changed.
