Goal

How often is cleaning done on T10000.

Solution

The T10000 drive will request cleaning after 1,000,000 meters of tape has crossed the R/W head. If errors are detected from the drive that could be attributed to buildup on the head, cleaning can be requested earlier than the normal threshold.

There is a 60,000 meter threshold for cleaning due to errors so that "bad" drives or tape do not clean on every mount. This could cause excessive head wear.
