Goal

How to obtain information about remote cameras.
Conversion bill information for remote cameras.

Fix

The Oracle/Storagetek[TM] SL8500 modular library system has a feature that allows customers to see the inside of their library. This feature consists of an Ethernet-based camera system - called WebCam - and monitoring software.

Feature codes: LBCM = includes camera

LBCN = no camera option

Conversion Bill 102083 is available to order.

Refer to the attached files for more information.

Part number for replacement camera is: 10501902

This part may have to be ordered through the NOPRT process as it may not be stocked normally.  The above PN has gone EOL and is no longer available (6-Aug-2012)

Default camera IP address is 192.168.0.99

Update: 24-July-2012

New Cameras -The existing SL8500 web camera has been discontinued.  A direct replacement is not available, so a new camera, additional mounting brackets, and a new camera power cable will be released.  The new FRU is CAMERAS, REMOTE, SL8500  P/N 7051122 and replaces both left and right cameras so that old cameras are entirely removed from the LSM.  The existing camera power cable connector is not compatible with the new camera, so an adapter cable has been added to the FRU.  The new camera FRU should only be used if it is replacing an existing “new” Panasonic camera, or when the old D-Link FRU is no longer available.  At this time there is still some stock of the old D-Link part.

Update - Some old cameras may still available from logistics.  However, manufacturing has run out cameras and is shipping new SL8500s without cameras. As noted in the next item, cameras are now part of every SL8500 configuration. If you recently received an SL8500 and did not receive cameras, they will be shipped to the site when they are available.
