Goal

SL500 - How to Reset OEM, Service or Admin Passwords on Library

Fix

Steps to Follow
Reset password:
Note - starting with code 1048 and above a new option was added to password reset for the operator panel -

  • resetpw
Places the specified login password back to the -needs activated- state. This is used to recover forgotten passwords.

    ..............
  • Starting with code release 1011 in the SL500 you can reset passwords for roles: admin, oem, and service.
  • Starting with this code release 1011 you no longer erase all passwords when you load or reload this level or higher.

Note: This function does not work for Advance Service Password, it is not field resetable.

Note: The customer can change the admin password from SLConsole but they can't reset it if they forgot their password. If they forgot their password only a CSE can reset it from the CLI port.

Prerequisites:

  • Code 1011 or higher
  • You must be in the CLI port
  • you must have activated a password

Syntax:

advsrv >> help resetpw
resetpw | | |
Places the specified login password back to the -needs activated-
state. This is used to recover forgotten passwords.

Note - For this example we were in advsrv. But you could also be in oem or service log in.

Example -

- oem resetpw all

- oem resetpw oem

- oem resetpw service

- oem resetpw admin

or

- service resetpw admin

- service resetpw service

- service resetpw oem

- service resetpw all

When this is done, it will take you back to password activation request on the next log in of the reset role.

You will need to down load a new One Time Password from the CRC for the role(s) you reset.

When using "resetpw oppanel", once the command has been given, all you need to do is hit "Enter" on the Op Panel and then it will ask you to enter a new password.
