PreviouslyPublishedAs 225851
Applies to:Sun StorageTek SL8500 Modular Library System - Version: Not Applicable and later [Release: N/A and later]All Platforms Checked for relevance on 8-Feb-2011. GoalSL8500 - How to display current version of SSH on library.SolutionSteps to FollowThe SL8500 supports SSH V_2. The library also supports V_1.0 . The host can specify the connection protocol level. You can find out what version of SSH is on the library by a couple of methods: 1. From a UNIX host running a SSH client: type SSH v [library address]. The library SSH protocol level will be displayed as the remote version. Example UNIX output: Debug1: remote protocol version 1.99, remote software version OpenSSH_4.2 ("remote" indicates this is the library version) The host adds this output: enabling compatibility mode for protocol 2.0 (This is the host version used for the connection)
2. Using PuTTY from a PC: under logging, set capture SSH packet data and provide a filename. Then attempt to log into the library. The resulting log file will contain the SSH message. Example PuTTY output below: Event Log: Server version: SSH-1.99-OpenSSH_4.2 ("server" indicates this is the library SSH version) PuTTY provides also this message: Event Log: We claim version: SSH-2.0-PuTTY-Release-0.56 (This is the SSH version used by PuTTY for the connection)
For either case you do not have to complete the log on to capture the data. More information on SSH can be found at: http://ssh.com/ Secure Shell, SL8500, Communication, SSH Attachments This solution has no attachment |
