Steps to Follow
Slow or Bad Performance Routine

 

Customer Complaint: Slow or Bad Performance

 

Step 1. Problem is occurring only on one drive.                                                                NO -> GO TO STEP 10

 

Step 2. Has the suspect tape cartridge exhibited similar problems on other drives?         NO -> GO TO STEP 4

 

Step 3. Is tape cartridge available for examination at Oracle headquarters?                     NO -> GO TO STEP 8

If yes, GO TO STEP 6.

 

Step 4. Is customer able to run R/W tests on suspect transport with two known good tapes. NO -> GO TO STEP 8

 

Step 5. Customer is able to run R/W test on drive successfully?                                             NO -> GO TO STEP 8

(Success = 2 tape passes)

 

Step 6. Have suspect tape set aside to be checked out further.  Update log and monitor drive for re-occurrence.    EXIT

 

Step 7. GO TO STEP 9.

 

Step 8. Open Service Request via MOS to have the drive checked out and replaced as necessary.                           EXIT

 

Step 9. Log drive serial number and tape volume that exhibited the problem and have the  tape removed from library.   EXIT

 

Step 10. There is a possible issue with connectivity, application or SAN.

 

Step 11. Open Service Request via MOS to further diagnose the problem.

 

Step 12. EXIT
