GoalHow to acquire drive dump using Read Buffer command. FixSteps to Follow
Refer to the description of the Read Buffer command contained in the T10000 Fibre Channel Reference Manual, Edition 5. In the Read Buffer CDB set the Mode to 01h (Vendor Specific) and the Buffer ID to FFh (Dump Buffer). Set the allocation length to the desired value. A description of how to use the Read Buffer command is contained in the Notes for the command. In addition to the Notes for the Read Buffer command observe the following. The allocation length must be divisible by 4. The minimum allocation length for reading the Dump Buffer is currently 8192 bytes. It will change to 4096 bytes in future levels of code. If the drive is attached to a library (as indicated in the Inquiry data) wait 2 minutes after an IPL before issuing Read Buffer commands. This allows the library to configure the drive before the Read Buffer command is received. The Dump Buffer contains all three types of data; Dump data, Permanent Error Trace, and the Event Log. A truncated transfer may occur at the end of each of these types of data in the Dump Buffer.
