Goal

By default, the Sun StorageTek[TM] controller tray IDs are set by the array firmware to 85 or 99. If desired, the management software allows you to set the controller tray ID's to a different value.

It is recommended to leave the controller tray ID's set at the default values.

Fix

If you decide to set the controller tray ID manually, make sure you pick an ID that does not conflict with any other tray ID's at that array.

Using SANtricity:

  1. From the Array Management window > Physical view.
  2. Click on the "View Tray Components" hyperlink.
  3. Click the "Change Tray ID..." button at the bottom of the window.
  4. Select Controller Tray from the drop down menu.
  5. Choose the new ID you want to change it to in the drop down menu under "Change Tray ID to:".
  6. Click the "OK" button.

Using the Sun Storage Common Array Manager (CAM) browser:

  1. On the left hand pane under "Physical Devices" go to "Trays"
  2. Select the current name of the controller tray to bring up the Tray Details page.
  3. Select the new ID from the drop down menu next to "Name".
  4. Click the "Save" button.
