Description
This document outlines a simple step by step procedure to install the LSI CIM browser on Sun Fire[TM] V20z/V40z systems which are running Red Hat Linux.
This utility provides the capability to monitor the status of the on-board RAID and drill down to obtain disk information on systems running Linux.
This utility is produced by LSI and is also available for Windows OS releases as well as Linux.
Steps to Follow
The following procedure was used successfully to install CIM_linux3.06.00 on Red Hat 3u6 and Red Hat 4u3.
1) Go to the web site
http://www.lsi.com/products/storagecomponents/Pages/LSI53C1030.aspx
2) Select Support & Downloads tab, then the Miscellaneous icon to expand the tree
3) Find the CIM_linuxxxxxxxx.zip file and download it
4) ssh onto the Sun Fire[TM] V20z/V40z and put the CIM_linuxXXXXXXXXX.zip file in /tmp
5) cd /tmp and unzip CIM_linuxXXXXXXXXX.zip
6) cd InstData/Linux/VM/
7) Ensure your DISPLAY variable is correct for your working environment.
(check using a command such as xclock or xterm)
8) chmod 755 install.bin
9) ./install.bin
(This step should generate an installer window)
10) Answer questions in installer window
11) When done quit the window.
12) Check CIM provider is running with:
# ps -aef | grep -i CIMLSIProvider
and check for output similar to that below.
[root@va64-v20zg-gmp03 etc]# ps -aef | grep -i CIMLSIProvider
root 2120 1 0 15:37 pts/0 00:00:04 /usr/local/bin/LSICim/jre/bin/
java -Djava.library.path=/usr/lib/ -classpath /usr/local/bin/LSICim/xerces.jar
:/usr/local/bin/LSICim/CIMOM.jar:/usr/local/bin/LSICim/HTTPClient.jar:/usr/loc
al/bin/LSICim/CIMLSIProvider.jar org.snia.wbemcmd.cimom.CIMServer
root 3722 1703 0 16:17 pts/0 00:00:00 grep -i cimlsiprovider
If the provider is not running try the following command which should start the provider daemon:
/etc/init.d/lscicim start
13) Start the Browser which talks to the CIM provider. (Note make sure your display variable is set correctly)
/usr/local/bin/LSICim/CIMLSIBrowser
This will allow you to view RAID status and drill down to the disk level.
If problems are encountered using the procedure then refer to the various document files which are contained within the CIM zip file.
