Goal
How to interpret the Channel Adapter (CHA) port Light Emitting Diode (LED) status on the DKC Panel.
Fix
Steps to Follow
On the DKC Panel of a Sun StorEdge[TM] 9900 or Sun StorEdge[TM] 9900V, there are two banks of CHA LED port indicators - one for cluster-1 and one for cluster-2.
Note: There are no CHA LEDs in the SE9990 DKC panel.
For each bank (cluster-1 or cluster-2), the LEDs are visually divided into 3 groups. Each LED in a group represents a port on a CHA.
Depending on the model, a CHA can have 4 or 8 ports.
For a 4-port CHA: Upper LEDs represents ports A,B,C and D. Lower LEDs are not used.
For a 8-port CHA: Upper LEDs represents ports A,B,C and D. Lower LEDs represents ports E,F,G and H.
SE99xx CHA port status per condition of LED's:
LED Condition | Status of Port |
Off |
Not installed |
Blinking Green - constant speed |
Installed but not connected to a server |
Steady Green |
Installed and connected to a server but idle |
Flickering Green |
Installed and connected - actively transferring I/O |
