If the net management interface is configured, telneting to it and doing a 'showusers' will show: sc> showusers username connection login time client IP addr console -------- ---------- ---------- -------------- ------- serial MAR 17 00:02 system admin net-1 MAR 16 23:58 192.168.1.2 This indicates that there is an unknown user on the serial port that has the console write access. For the admin user from net-1 to have console write access, the user must issue the 'console -f' command. sc> console -f Warning: User < > currently has write permission to this console and forcibly removing them will terminate any current write actions and all work will be lost. Would you like to continue? [y/n]y console login: It is important to note that if there is really a need to steal the console on the net management connection, it must be ensured that there is no real console user doing something in the serial port. A user using a telnet connection will always have to use -f option to obtain the console write lock.
