Applies to:Sun Fire 12K ServerSun Fire 15K Server Sun Fire E25K Server Sun Fire E20K Server All Platforms GoalThis document describes Sun Fire[TM] 12K/15K/E20K/E25K: Changing Host Names on the System Controllers.SolutionEnsure you have a valid / working serial console connection before starting this procedure.Follow these steps to change the system controllers' host names. Step 1. Set failover off on the main SC. v4u-15ka-sc0-gmp02:sms-svc:1> showfailover Step 2. IMPORTANT : Back up the following files in a secure location because sys-unconfig will remove them: /etc/defaultrouter Note: If you are using LDAP you should back up these files also: /var/ldap/ldap_client_cache Step 3. Run /usr/sbin/sys-unconfig. Fill in the new information during reboot. Step 4. Using the serial connection of the SC you are re-naming, run smsconfig -m to put new hostname into sms config. Step 5. Reboot the SC and restore ONLY the necessary information previously backed-up Step 6. Proceed in the same way on the Spare SC. Step 7.
