Using a USB keyboard for input and setting system boot to stop on error.
Power system on
Select F2 for Setup during boot process
From within the setup menu select
Advanced
Peripheral Config
Legacy USB Support
Change the setting for this to AUTO.
Then select SERVER,
POST Error Pause and
change the setting to ENABLED.
Then select EXIT and SAVE CHANGES.
Insert the DIAG CD and boot the system.
At the main menu select SYSTEM UTILITIES
(this takes a long time to load into the RAM disk and via serial
console you get no indication for a while whereas when
using a monitor/keyboard you get more information as it loads).
Then select PLATFORM CONFIDENCE TEST and QUICK TEST.
All errors and messages are logged to the System Event Log (SEL) manager, not to the screen.
See below for details on how to view the SEL.
Fi ve steps are required to reset the CMOS through the buttons on the front panel:
Power off the system, but leave the AC power connected so that the 5V standby is available.
Ensure that the CMOS clear jumper is in the not clear position.
Hold down the reset button for at least 4 seconds.
While the reset button is pressed, press the on/off button.
Simultaneously release both the on/off and reset buttons.
Boot either the DIAG cd or from the DISG partition if installed.
Select system utilities and then system setup utility. (if running from a serial console and booting from CD, it appears to hang as it loads everything into a RAM disk)
To view the SEL:
From the SSU main window Tasks, choose SEL Manager.
When you start the SEL Manager, it automatically loads the current list of events from nonvolatile memory.
Use the F4 and F5 keys to scroll the window contents to the left and right to view all of the columns. PageUp/Down to scroll up/down.
Use the File and SEL menu items to work with the SEL information:
Open - Views data from a previously saved SEL file
Save As - Saves the currently loaded SEL data to a file
Properties - Displays information about the SEL
Clear SEL - Clears the SEL data from the nonvolatile storage area
Reload - Refreshes the display by reading the current SEL entries from the server
Sort By - Sorts the displayed events by event number, time stamp, sensor type and number, event description, or event generator ID
Boot either DIAG CD or from DIAG partition if installed.
Select system utilities and then system setup utility . (if running from a serial console and booting from CD, it appears to hang as it loads everything into a RAM disk)
Select one of
SEL system event log
SDR sensor data record
Type Ctrl - F then save-as then type in the filename and select which drive to save to. Eg a: floppy c: hard drive
