Procedures in the document "Sun Fire 6800/4810/4800/3800 Systems Platform Administration Manual"(.pdf file included with the Sun Fire flashprom update patch) indicate that it is necessary to set up the ftp "Firmware Server" as an anonymous ftp server, and gives full instructions on how to set this up. There is a time-saving procedure that skips this step (setting the firmware server up for anonymous ftp). Here are the steps: 1) Telnet or tip into the spare system controller that needs to be flashupdated, and go to "Platform Shell" (prompt should end with lower case sc:>).
flashupdate -f ftp://root:password@ip/path_to_patches/ scapp rtos 2) Telnet or tip into the main system controller that needs to be flashupdated, and go to "Platform Shell"(prompt should end with upper case SC:>).
flashupdate -f ftp://root:password@ip/path_to_patches/ all rtosWhere:
