Solution Type Technical Instruction Sure Solution 1004261.1 : Sun Fire[TM] X4600 M2 Server: Some 8xDIMM CPU Modules Have Their DIMMs Installed in Incorrect Locations
PreviouslyPublishedAs 205889 Applies to:Sun Fire X4600 M2 Server - Version Not Applicable and laterAll Platforms ***Checked for relevance on 17-May-2012*** GoalCheck and correctly configure 8xDIMM memory modules on Sun Fire x4600 M2 servers. FixDescription Instead of correctly populating DIMMs in pairs starting from white DIMM slots furthermost from the CPU (DIMM 6 and 7), DIMM pairs may be incorrectly populated in manufacturing starting from black DIMM slots closest to the CPU (DIMM 0 and 1). Incorrectly populated DIMMs have not been verified to work stably by Oracle engineering and should be avoided.
Symptom: Systems may experience intermittent power downs or panics when DIMMs are installed incorrectly. Corrective Action: Ensure all CPU/memory modules have DIMMs populated in pairs starting from white DIMM pair furthermost from CPU.
