PurposeThis document discusses the use of RAM by the Hypervisor in various CMT servers Details The Hypervisor is low level software that controls & sub-divides platform resources. The Hypervisor was developed for the Sun Fire T2000 & is also used on the later Chip Multi-Threading (CMT) platforms. This software was split off of the Solaris kernel & performs: Only one Hypervisor exists on the server which can control one of more Logical Domains (LDom). Thus, a portion of RAM must be reserved for use by the hypervisor to control the functionality above for all LDoms.
