How to Identify disks.

The simplest method is to collect /opt/oracle.SupportTools/sundiag.sh and review the following files.

From a Database/Compute node review the file DBnodename_megacli64-PdList_short_Date-YY_MM_HH_mm_ss.out
The example shows the system contains Hitachi 146GB SAS drive part number either 540-7355 or 540-7868.

# cat dbnode04_megacli64-PdList_short_2012_02_16_06_48.out

Slot 00 Device 24 (HITACHI H103014SCSUN146GA1600934FEJ23E ) status is: Online
Slot 01 Device 23 (HITACHI H103014SCSUN146GA1600933FGYRHE ) status is: Online
Slot 02 Device 22 (HITACHI H103014SCSUN146GA1600934FHPETE ) status is: Online
Slot 03 Device 21 (HITACHI H103014SCSUN146GA1600934FHX5PE ) status is: Hotspare

An alternative method is to use MegaCli64 command

/opt/MegaRAID/MegaCli/MegaCli64 -PDList -a0|egrep 'Slot Number:|Inquiry Data:'

Slot Number: 0
Inquiry Data: HITACHI H103014SCSUN146GA1600934FEJ23E

Slot Number: 3
Inquiry Data: HITACHI H103014SCSUN146GA1600934FHX5PE

From a Storage Cell review the file Cellname_megacli64-PdList_short_Date-YY_MM_HH_mm_ss.out
The example shows the system contains Seagate 600GB SAS drive part number 542-0166 with firmware version 0705

# cat storagecel04_megacli64-PdList_short_2012_02_16_07_58.out

If cellsrv is running on the storage cell then the cellcli command can be run from the command line.
This example shows the slot ,Drive type and Firmware version.

How to Verify the Server Model for Part Ordering with ATR:

The information above should provide the disk model to FRU part you need to order. However another issue exists in that when using ATR, the server model type for V2 and X2-2 may not be identified properly by the MOS CSI and part mapping used. If this is the case, the FRU part number list to select from may be wrong. When using ATR, never trust the pre-populated Product Type - you always should double-check what model of server you are running on before selecting the disk FRU part.

If the FRU part you have identified belongs in a X4170 or X4275 Server, then in the ATR template drop-down for "Product Type", ensure you have selected Oracle Exadata V2.  This should give the correct list of supported disk parts.

If the FRU part you have identified belongs in a X4170M2 then in the ATR template drop-down for "Product Type", ensure you have selected Oracle Exadata X2-2. This should give the correct list of supported disk parts.

If the FRU part you have identified belongs in a X4800 or X4800M2 Server, then in the ATR template drop-down for "Product Type", ensure you have selected Oracle Exadata X2-8. This should give the correct list of supported disk parts.

If the FRU part you have identified belongs in a X4270M2 Server, then in the ATR template drop-down for "Product Type", ensure you have NOT selected Oracle Exadata V2.  Using either "Oracle Exadata X2-2, or Oracle Exadata Storage Expansion X2-2 or Oracle Exadata X2-8 or one of the SPARC SuperCluster models should give the correct list of supported disk parts.

To verify the server model, on a Storage Server:

# cellcli -e list cell attributes makeModel
SUN MICROSYSTEMS SUN FIRE X4275 SERVER SAS

This output is contained in a "sundiag", and can be located with:

# grep makeModel *cell-detail*
makeModel: SUN MICROSYSTEMS SUN FIRE X4275 SERVER SAS
#

To verify the Server model on a Database Node this information can be gathered from 'dmidecode' on the OS, or using the ILOM as follows:

# dmidecode -s system-product-name
SUN FIRE X4170 SERVER

or

# ipmitool sunoem cli "show /SYS product_name"
Connected. Use ^D to exit.
-> show /SYS product_name

/SYS
Properties:
product_name = SUN FIRE X4170 SERVER

-> Session closed
Disconnected

This example is a X4170 in an Exadata V2. A X2-2 model would report M2.

This information is not currently in "sundiag" for Database Nodes but is being added in a future version.
