Details

Always refer to a patch's README for information about patch requirements and special installation instructions. The two-digit suffix of each patch represents the minimum revision level of the patch. Check http://myoraclesupport.com for the latest patch revision. Apply patches in the order listed.

Note - This IOUA card (Type:2) should not be used to replace a non-RAID-capable IOUA card (Type:1). To determine which type of card is currently in the system, use the showhardconf(8) command.

Note - Oracle recommends you install the latest Patch Recommended OS Cluster for all releases that support it.

Caution - Before installing any IO card - such as the RAID-Capable IOUA Card - verify that your server satisfies all requirements for that IO card. Such requirements include minimum required XCP firmware and Oracle Solaris OS versions, and all required patches.

The minimum required system controller XCP revision is listed in column three.  The remaining columns list the domain Solaris release supported and whether any patches are required.  See the notes below the table.

RAID-capable IOUA card (Type:2) 1110 No 1b 1a Yes Yes

Yes indicates support with no required patches.
No indicates not supported.
  1. Patches required for RAID-capable IOUA card (Type:2) support
  • a: S10U5 - S10U7: 138174-04 or newer: SunOS 5.10 igb driver patch
  • b: S10U4: see Special instructions for S10U4 below

Special instructions for S10U4:

The new RAID-Capable IOUA Card uses the drivers from the SUNWigb package.
Since the SUNWigb package was introduced with S10U5, S10U4 does not have igb drivers installed, even if the latest patches are applied.

To install the SUNWigb package and its drivers that match your system's current patch levels, please follow the steps below, in the given order:

  1. Install 137321-01: SunOS 5.10: p7zip patch
  2. Install the SUNWigb package, which is attached to this document as SUNWigb.zip.
  3. Check the target system to see if the patches listed below are installed, then perform the indicated actions in the order shown below:
  • (re-)install patch 138174-04: SunOS 5.10 igb patch
  • re-install patch 141444-09: SunOS 5.10 kernel patch (if patch 141444-09 was not previously installed, no action is required)
  • re-install patch 142909-17: SunOS 5.10 kernel patch (if patch 142909-17 was not previously installed, no action is required)
