Overview:
All Oracle® Exadata Database Machine's are Engineered Systems with pre-packaged configurations of Oracle Sun x64 Servers, Database and ASM storage optimizations, pre-installed including cabling into an Oracle Sun Rack II and branded with Oracle/Sun Exadata decals. These Engineered Systems are available in the following configurations:
X2-8 Full Rack:
The Exadata Database Machine X2-8 consists of the following major components:
- 2 Oracle Sun Fire X4800 Oracle Database Servers
- 14 Exadata Storage Servers (Oracle Sun Fire X4270 M2)
- 3 Sun Datacenter 36-port Managed QDR InfiniBand switches (NanoMagnum2)
- 1 48-port Ethernet switch (Cisco 4948 or CU-supplied)
- 2 Redundant 22kVA Single Phase or 24 kVA Three Phase PDUs (High Voltage or Low Voltage)
Due to only 2 Database Servers limiting cluster redundancy, the X2-8 is not available in configurations smaller than a Full Rack.
X2-2 Full Rack:
The Exadata Database Machine X2-2 consists of the following major components:
X2-2 Half Rack:
The Exadata Database Machine X2-2 consists of the following major components:
X2-2 Quarter Rack:
The Exadata Database Machine X2-2 consists of the following major components:
Storage Expansion Racks:
The Exadata Database Machine Storage Expansion Racks consist of the following major component configurations:
- Exadata Storage Servers (Sun Fire X4270 M2) with High Capacity (2TB SAS) disks only
- 18 Full Rack
- 9 Half Rack
- 4 Quarter Rack
- Sun Datacenter 36-port Managed QDR InfiniBand switches (NanoMagnum2)
- 3 Full and Half Rack
- 2 Quarter Rack
- 1 48-port Ethernet switch (Cisco 4948 or CU-supplied)
- Keyboard, Video, Mouse (KVM) hardware (Avocent)
- 2 Redundant 15 kVA PDUs (Single Phase or Three Phase, High Voltage or Low Voltage)
Storage Server (Standalone):
The Exadata Database Machine Storage Server can be purchased as a standalone unit for adding single unit level storage capacity to an existing Exadata Database Machine. The customer must supply their own rack or purchase a new one to install the standalone unit in, and place it alongside the Exadata it will be connecting to via InfiniBand. These can be added in any number of increments. For convenience of larger expansion, use the Storage Expansion Racks. Refer to the section below for component specifics.
Sun Oracle Database Machine Basic System:
The Sun Oracle Database Machine Basic System consists of the following major components:
- 1 Sun Fire X4170 Oracle Database Servers
- 1 Exadata Storage Servers based on Sun Fire X4275
- 1 Sun Datacenter 36-port Managed QDR InfiniBand switch (NanoMagnum2)
- Rack is to be supplied by the Customer
This option is EOL and no longer sold and available. Existing units are still supported for the existing 3 year warranty.
