Solution Type Sun Alert Sure Solution 1021983.1 : Sun Blade X6270 ILOM Graphical User Interface Inaccessible on Newly Installed Blades
PreviouslyPublishedAs 276570 Bug Id <SUNBUG: 6912597> Product Sun Blade X6270 Server Module Date of Resolved Release 03-Feb-2010 ***Checked for relevance on 22-Jun-2012*** 1. Impact An issue with software version 2.1 (firmware version 3.0.6.10) for certain ship dates of the Sun Blade X6270 has caused the Integrated Lights Out Manager (ILOM) Graphical User Interface to be inaccessible on newly installed Blades. 2. Contributing Factors This issue can occur on the following platform: x64 Platform
To determine the firmware version on this system, do the following (the Read Only (o) role must be enabled): At the SP command prompt, type 'version'. The output will be similar to the following (depending on FW version): SP firmware 3.0.0.1
SP firmware build number: ##### SP firmware date: Fri Nov 28 14:03:21 EDT 2008 SP filesystem version: 0.1.22 3. Symptoms When the blade is plugged into the chassis, it will be given a Service Processor(SP) IP address by serial connection ("Dongle") or through the Chassis Monitoring Module (CMM) of the C10 Chassis. At this point, the web browser is used to access the IP address that was just configured in order to bring up a graphical user interface to the browser. The fault then occurs, as the web access is inaccessible. 4. Workaround To work around the described issue, re-flash the Blade to the same ILOM revision or newer software release, not preserving the existing configuration, so as to restore the damaged ILOM partition. Documentation for updating the ILOM firmware is located in the "Sun Integrated Lights Out Manager (ILOM) 3.0 CLI Procedures Guide". Also see "Sun Integrated Lights Out Manager (ILOM) 3.0 Feature Updates and Release Notes" for more information. 5. Resolution This issue is addressed in the following release: x64 Platform
Note: This issue has since been corrected in manufacturing, and affected units are no longer being shipped. Modification History 22-Jun-2012: Maintenance Check for currency/relevance, no change in content Internal Comments (for SAs) It has been determined that after completing the SWDL process, manufacturing issues an 'unconfig all' command. This causes the ILOM file system to be corrupted by removing the '/usr/local/www' filesystem. Without this filesystem, the ILOM GUI will not work. questions regarding this document should be submitted to [email protected] and copy the responsible Engineer listed below Internal Contributor/submitter [email protected] Internal Eng Responsible Engineer [email protected] Internal Services Knowledge Engineer [email protected] Internal Eng Business Unit Group Systems Group-x64 (X4100-X4600 (and M2), Internal Escalation ID 72232536 ReferencesAttachments This solution has no attachment |
