Applies to:

Exadata Database Machine X2-2 Full Rack - Version Not Applicable and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

  • Trying to enable the subnet manager on the spine IB switch , it failed.
  • sminfo executed on other switch, reports status as SMINFO_STANDBY

Changes

 none

Cause

Problem is due to the wrong status of the master subnet manager

On the leaf switch, sminfo is returning

sminfo: sm lid 3 sm guid 0x21286ccbeea0a0, activity count 37512519 priority 14 state 2 SMINFO_STANDBY

This is caused by an incorrect content of file /conf/configvalid, having 0 instead of 1.

Solution

To fix the problem, log into the IB switch with the problem.

#disablesm
#echo 1 > /conf/configvalid
#enablesm
