StorageTek SL150 Modular Tape Library - Version All Versions to All Versions [Release All Releases]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Cannot connect to the Web GUI of the SL150 library.

Cause

The SL150 library was configured for a DHCP network attachment but an Ethernet cable is not plugged in or there is no DHCP server configured on the network for the Ethernet cable that is plugged into the SL150 library.

Solution

When the SL150 library is configured for a DHCP network connection it needs an Ethernet cable plugged into it that has a DHCP server on it so that the DHCP server can set the IP address for the SL150 library.

If the SL150 library is configured for DHCP and it doesn't get an IP address from a DHCP server the library will not complete its initialization.  Text will be shown on the boot screen as listed below if the SL150 library can't get an IP address automatically assigned to it by a DHCP server.

If the DHCP configuration was chosen by accedent in the Initial Config Wizard then a factory reset will need to be done and a Static IP network configuration will need to be configured by running the Initial Config Wizard again.

Warning Text Shown on Boot Screen:

Requesting an IP from the network DHCP server for eth1
If this message remains here for more than a few minutes
You must remedy this to continue initialization...
     1) Make sure the port "NET MGT 1" is connected to a live network
     2) and that the network has DHCP services available
   ...
Once connected and DHCP server responds, library initialization will continue

To Do a Factory Reset on the SL150 Library:

One person will need to stand at the front of the SL150 library and one person will need to stand at the rear of the SL150 library.

The SL150 library will need to be in a powered up state.

The person at the front of the library will need to push and hold the locate button on the front of the SL150 library and then the person at the rear of the library will need to push and hold the locate button on the rear of the SL150 library.

The locate buttons will start to flash slowly, continue to hold in both of the locate bottons until the locate buttons start to flash quickly.

Once the locate buttons flash at a fast rate both buttons can be released and the library will do a factory reset and will reinitialize.

You now will have to go through the Initial Config Wizard in order to setup the SL150 library with a Static IP address.
