Sun StorageTek SL500 Modular Library System - Version All Versions and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.
Checked for relevance on 16-July-2012.

Symptoms

Upgrade the firmware (all went ok) but the customer is now unable to use the library due to some licensing issues in Legato - it seems the library shows 124 slots while legato expects 64.

Changes

Microcode upgrade from 1232 to latest version.

Cause

Cell licensing changed with the upgrade of microcode effecting Legato Application.

With lower level of firmware, the library would set cell capacity via the SILKs key process.  With microcode above 1300, cell capcity is set with partitioning.

Solution

Once firmware is upgraded in the library and a need for limited cell capacity is require, the Paritioning feature must be applied.  This is done via the Hardware Activation process.
