Applies to:

Sun Ray Hardware - Version Sun Ray 3 to Sun Ray 3 [Release 1.0]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Users may report that the display of new Sun Ray 3 Clients appear to flicker or flash while scrolling pages in a browser after setting higher resolutions, such as 1920x1200 or 1920x1080.

Note: This problem may still be seen with the latest presently available firmware, version 11.0_49_2012.03.27.10.35 installed.

Cause

This problem is caused due to the underruns in the LCD controller of Sun Ray 3 Client when the display resolution is set to a higher level.

Solution

The problem will be formally resolved in the next public Sun Ray Operating System release.

Administrators may find temporary relief to this behavior by installing IDR149236-01 on the affected Sun Ray 3 Client system, under Sun Ray Software, version 5.3.  Customers with active support contracts may contact the Desktop Virtualization team at Oracle Support to formally request this IDR.
