Symptoms
When performing a baseline check with Sun Storage Common Array Manager (CAM), one or more drives can be reported with the level "Not Applicable" instead of their corresponding firmware baseline.
NOTE: Although this situation can happen for different scenarios, this document is related to the Seagate drive models ST1000NM0011 and ST2000NM0011.
Example:

To determine the drive model, you can refer to <Document 1002514.1> Collecting Sun Storage Common Array Manager Array Support Data to collect a supportdata from the array, then unzip the supportdata and open the file storageArrayProfile.txt to search for the string "DRIVES". Example:

Cause
The drive models ST1000NM0011 and ST2000NM0011 were released around March 2012 and CAM has not been updated to include these drives in the baseline files. Therefore, although these drives are qualified and supported, CAM does not know what firmware needs to be installed on this drive model, and reports the level "Not Applicable".
Solution
Oracle released these drives with the initial revision 1D03. This is in fact the package version which includes the interposer firmware LP1608 and drive firmware MS00. You can check these versions using the following steps:
- Collect an array supportdata. Refer <Document 1002514.1> Collecting Sun Storage Common Array Manager Array Support Data.
- Unzip the supportdata and open the file "storageArrayProfile.txt".
- Do a search for your drive and extract the versions:
Example:
Tray.11.Drive.11
Drive port: 1, Channel: 1, ID: 21
Drive port: 2, Channel: 5, ID: 26
Drive path redundancy: OK
Status: Optimal

If you do not have these firmware/revision and you are sure that you have an Oracle drive, you should contact the Oracle Support.
Internal Use Only
For Oracle engineers, if you have a SR with the above drive models but not the Oracle firmware/revision, please send an email with the SR# to [email protected].
If your drives ST1000NM0011 and/or ST2000NM0011 come from Oracle and you have the revision/firmware mentioned above, you can ignore this level "Not Applicable" reported in the CAM baseline check.
NOTE: This document will be updated as soon as CAM gets modified to list this drive model in its baseline.
