Symptoms

The box issued FSC32CB SIM/MIM

Changes

*Cause
Explain what caused the

Reviewed the logs and found the box issued a FSC32CB SIM/MIM on ICE cards, ESCON channels.

There were multiple ICE cards that were receiving the FSC32CB.

Nothing fenced, this can be outside of the box and will not be seen on VCF cards, FICON channel cards.

Cause

ESCON interface temporary errors that are logged to the base files from the VTSS.

Multiple ICE card ports were receiving the FSC32CB.
 Nothing fenced.

Solution

Retreive the base files from the VTSS for review.

Review the hic_stat.dia the verify the box did generate the FSC32CB SIM/MIM

Review the pfaelg4a.cnt and pfaelg4a.dom files to see the number of temporary errors logged and to which channel ports they are on.

Also review fip.out report to see if the FICON interfaces are logging errors and what type of errors.

Review the status screen and/or the DOP of the VTSS.

This does not fence a FRU but is indicating communications issue which can also be in the cable or on the customer end.
