Solution Type Problem Resolution Sure Solution 1447810.1 : SL8500 - Service Expiring on Library
In this Document Created from <SR 3-5543423801>
Applies to:Sun StorageTek SL8500 Modular Library System - Version: Not ApplicableInformation in this document applies to any platform. SymptomsUnder Hardware activation Tab, I see these features:Legacy8500 noExpiration Capacity noExpiration 0 Service 04/13/2012 Partitioning noExpiration OpenVolser noExpiration Looks like SERVICE is the feature that needs the update - rather than "hwActivation featureService enable" is there a command like "hwActivation featureService noExpiration" or "hwActivation featureService Expiration04/13/2013" ? CauseFirmware changes.SolutionhwActivation activates several features (including service):Example - Partitioning and Dual TCPIP. Once microcode above 7.x is installed the customer will be able to download license keys to enable these features. Until then - The FE must use HwActivation. Customer needs to wait for the expiration date to actually occur. IF the clock is wrong on the library, the expiration date may not actually be the same 4/13/2012 as on the customer calendar. (something else to worry about) Here are the commands: For code versions prior to 6.x, use: log snapshot license enable For 6.x or higher code, use: hwActivation serviceFeature enable After the service has expired, issue the hwactivation command. All will be good. By the way once the service time has expired the library will still continue to function normally. Provided by Kevin Luther.
