Information in this document applies to any platform.
Symptoms
A customer may call in where power was affected to the whole Axiom system. Upon bringing everything up, they were faced with components and storageobjects in a non-Normal state. The principal cause for concern is:
Slammer CU is showing as Missing
Cause
For this situation, this may have been caused by a brief power outage affecting certain components including the actual Slammer Control Unit.
Solution
The solution can be performed as follows:
1) Check LED lights of the power supplies (additionally and all other modules on that Slammer node).
2) If the power supplies appear off, unplug the power cables to them, leave out for 1 min, and then reconnect. Check to see if power is brought back to the whole node.
3) If replugging power to the power supplies does not do its job, then unplug the cables again, unseat both power supplies for 1 min, then seat them back in, then apply power.
4) If reseating the power supplies does not bring them back, check for a Motherboard Fault Light.
5) If the Motherboard Fault Light is lit, then a replacement motherboard is needed. If not, while the power cables to the power supplies are unplugged, perform a reseat of the motherboard and the power supplies for 1 min, before applying power back.
6) If all these attempts fail, then logs will be required for further triage.
