Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Running the 'ibswitches' command on 2 infiniband switches in an Exalogic rack results in different output for each switch.

Cause

A bad port connection between an infiniband switch and the Exalogic rack's Cisco switch is the cause.

Physically examining the infiniband switches reveals that the link light for a port on one of the infiniband switches is off.

Solution

If the 'ibswitches' command is run on multiple infiniband switches and the outputs of the 'ibswitches' commands show inconsistencies:

1) Examine the LED's associated with the ports on the infiniband switches; and
2) If an LED for a port on one of the infiniband switches is not lit, reconnect the cable for the connection between the non-lit port and the Cisco switch;
3) After observing that the non-lit LED is now lit, re-run the 'ibswitches' command on the infiniband switches to verify that the outputs are no longer inconsistent.
