Server Unable to power . "-->start /SYS" from ILOM give error "start: Not enough available power".

Created from <SR 3-5028929617>

Applies to:

Sun Netra X4270 Server - Version: Not Applicable to Not Applicable - Release: N/A to N/A
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Sun Netra X4270 server unable to power on.

The command "start /SYS" when run from the ILOM CLI may give the following error:

   "start: Not enough available power"

-> start /SYS
Are you sure you want to start /SYS (y/n)? y
start: Not enough available power

Changes

This may infrequently occur when there is a sudden power outage.

Cause

In case of power loss, the fault management logic in the service processor of the server marks both PS0 and PS1 as faulty as per the below example:

->show faulty
--
--
/SP/faultmgmt/1 | fru | /SYS/PS0
/SP/faultmgmt/1/ | class | fault.chassis.env.power.loss
--
/SP/faultmgmt/2 | fru | /SYS/PS1
/SP/faultmgmt/2/ | class | fault.chassis.env.power.loss
--

Solution

Clear the fault conditions registered for each power supply using logging into the service processor and issuing the following commands:

-->set /SYS/PS0 clear_fault_action=true
-->set /SYS/PS1 clear_fault_action=true
-->start /SYS
