X4150: ILOM: no access to Web GUI in IE9 and FF8 mobile

Symptoms

Customers may experience a blank page when they connect to Oracle Integrated Lights Out Manager (ILOM) 3.0

- Internet Explorer shows a blank page instead of the login page.

- while Firefox shows the login page and the login is possible, but the next page or the subpage stays blank.



At this time, not all versions of browsers are fully supported. Please refer to the .pdf resource mentioned later in this article



Changes

There are two (legacy) Sun bugs logged against this issue (not Oracle bug numbers)

Please see the following:

IE9 is not a fully qualified/supported browser for ILOM 3.0 or 3.1.
IE9 qualification/support is targeted for the ILOM 3.2 release
(see target release field) which is currently scheduled for testing
in Q4CY2011.



Cause

At this time, IE9 and Firefox 8 are not a fully qualified/supported browser for ILOM 3.0 or 3.1.

IE9 qualification/support is targeted for the ILOM 3.2 release.

Customers are requested to upgrade to the latest version of the ILOM package.

Solution

The current solution to this problem is to use one of the supported browsers.

Although the web interface has been tested successfully with recently released Mozilla Firefox, and Internet Explorer web browsers, (and may be compatible with other web browsers), the existing browser support info for this version of the product can be found here:

Normally the login via the ILOM command line interface works fine so the customers should use the CLI as workaround  (or they should use supported browsers.)
