Solution Type Problem Resolution Sure Solution 1380245.1 : RDS Communications Stalled When Memory Depletes could lead to Hang, Node Eviction or Node reboot
When there is memory depletion the RDS connections would fail and keep retrying until the IB driver successfully allocates memory. This could lead to: - hang of system - eviction and/or reboot of a Database Node Created from <SR 3-4502323081> Applies to:Exadata Database Machine V2 - Version All Versions and laterOracle Exadata Storage Server Software - Version 11.2.1.2.0 to 11.2.2.3.5 [Release 11.2] Information in this document applies to any platform. SymptomsDifferent types of hang may be observed in Exadata Database or Cell nodes. And the Exadata version is below 11.2.2.4.0. And OS Watcher explains memory depletion. ChangesExadata database and cell server running with low free memory. Causelow memory causes IB driver to fail allocating memory and RDS keeps retrying for connection. This leads to the hang. SolutionThis issue is due to unpublished Bug 10154755 and it is fixed in OFA 1.5.1.4.0.53.
