Symptoms

Users report that the Sun Ray utsetting utility throws an "Unrecognized timing index (33) ignored" error message when high resolutions (i.e. 2560x1600) are selected on Sun Ray 3+ clients.

This error message may look like this:
[root][iray-126:/] # /opt/SUNWut/bin/utsettings
Unrecognised timing index (33) ignored

Cause

<Bug:12283331>

While the Sun Ray firmware supports 2560x1600 on Sun Ray 3 Clients, the Sun Ray Server may not have the correct mappings for it.   This behavior (and several related) has been resolved with the 5.2.3 release of Sun Ray Software.

Solution

This known behavior was resolved with the Sun Ray Software, version 5.2.3.

<Document 1368780.1> outlines this release, including prerequisites, change lists, and instructions for procuring the installation binaries.
