Applies to:

Sun StorageTek SL8500 Modular Library System - Version: Not Applicable and later   [Release: N/A and later ]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

(Inter-Library Communications)
ILC Failure
Result Code : 3204 System error - server not responding
RC3204

Cause

ILC (Inter-Library Communications) link has failed.

Solution

If a multiple library subsystem is down and there are "Result Code : 3204 System error - server not responding" messages in the log, check the location addresses in the messages.
Also check the logs from the other library(s).
If the "Server not responding" messages in each library have addresses in them that point to other libraries, suspect the ILC (Inter-Library Communications) link has failed.

This can be the cabling, the ILC switch in the rack or the 1A port on one of the HBC cards.

You can also check the status of the ILC from the SL Console:
Go to "Tools", top "Library" icon, "Status", "Complex" and display the ILC status.

If the Inter-Library Communications are OK, a "true" statement will show up.
