Applies to:

Oracle Exalogic Elastic Cloud X2-2 Hardware - Version Not Applicable to Not Applicable [Release N/A]
Oracle Exalogic Elastic Cloud Software - Version 1.0.0.0.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

In Exalogic environment issue of status of Infiniband GW Switch VNIC's  showing WAIT-IO state instead of UP state was reported.

Below were steps performed during the issue:

  1. "createvnic" command was executed which created the vnic's.
  2. "showvnics" command was executed to verify status of created vnic's.

After running "showvnics" command VNIC's status was shown as WAIT-IO state instead of UP state.

Cause

Exalogic GW switches were not connected into network using splitter cables which caused the ETH VNIC switches to stay in WAIT_IO state.

Solution

To resolve this issue connect Exalogic GW switches into datacenter network using splitter cables.

After connecting the splitter cable, run "showvnics" to check the state of the VNIC's. It should be showing UP state. Below is "showvnics" command output which shows VNIC's state as UP for reference.

ID STATE FLG IOA_GUID NODE IID MAC VLN PKEY GW
