SMB clients run running Mac OS X Lion of (Mac OS X 10.7) cannot access shares from a 7000 Series NAS.

When trying to connect via SMB to shares provided by Sun Unified 7000 boxes with earlier versions than 2010.Q3.4.1, from a a MAC OS 7.1 client, users run into  'permission denied' messages on the client, when there are no problems with the same shares accessed via earlier version of Mac OS or Windows clients.

Cause

This is a known issue caused by the different implementation of SMB services in Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion).

This is addressed in the following bug:

Solution

Upgrade appliance software to 2010.Q3.4.1 (2010.08.17.4.1) or later, available from http://wikis.sun.com/display/FishWorks/Software+Updates
