Symptoms

V2X posted SIM message with the following information in it to the host:

IEA480E aaaa,SCU,MODERATE ALERT,MT=2105,SER=ssss-sssss,REFCODE=3FDx-zzzz-zzzz

More detail:
aaaa is the unit address reporting the SIM message
SER is the serial number referenced by the SIM message
REFCODE = Provides data of the event, including the FSC


Note:  The cause and solution only apply if the serial number belongs to the V2X hardware and if Fault Symptom Code 3FDx is the REFCODE.    REFCODE=3DFx applies to 3FD0 thru 3FDF.  This FSC is applicable only to PPRC, Peer-to-Peer Remote Copy, an available feature of the V2X hardware.

3FD2 - PPRC link lost connection on IFC CARD SLOT 01 top interface
3FD3 - PPRC link lost connection on IFC CARD SLOT 01 bottom interface
3FD4 - PPRC link lost connection on IFC CARD SLOT 02 top interface
3FD5 - PPRC link lost connection on IFC CARD SLOT 02 bottom interface

Solution

Recovery steps:

NOTE: The V2X is stating the link is down, not that it has dropped the link.  90% of these events are caused by something external to the subsystem.

1. Attempt to reestablish the link with CESTPATH command including all links.  If successful, monitor for re-occurrence.
  
2. If the link can not be established, contact the vendor of the network between the two units.  Contact Oracle to review the status of both the V2X that posted the SIM and the secondary V2X.
