Applies to:

Sun StorageTek SL8500 Modular Library System - Version: Not Applicable and later   [Release: N/A and later ]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

The customer could not get the robots to pick up new cartridges from the CAP.

Changes

There were no changes made to the system.

Cause

The labels on the tape media were duplicates, i.e. they existed on the cartridges that were already loaded in the SL8500 library.  Hence the robot would merely scan them and correctly rejecting them.  The product is therefore working as designed.

Solution

Use unique numbers / characters to label the cartridges.
