Symptoms

VLE ILOM Hang error 2209

ASR event code: vle.LogEvent.ILOM.2209

ASR log text:
Description: May 15 08:14:53 VLECML01_vle ILOM: [ID 2209] CRITICAL: Error executing ILOM FDD

May 15 08:14:53 VLECML01_vle ILOM: [ID 2209] CRITICAL: Error executing ILOM FDD fmdump script.

Down Level ILOM firmware

Solution

Resetting an ILOM after a 2209 event

Ref: ILOM error 2209

FIX:
Fix has been integrated in ILOM/SP build 3.0_sp12_20

WORKAROUND:
1.  Connect a pc to the serial port for the ILOM
    (This is placarded as the SER MGT port)
2.  Power on the PC and ensure you can communicate with the ILOM.
3.  Issue the command: set /SP/services/servicetag state=disabled
4.  Issue the command: set /SP/services/servicetag state=enabled
5.  Disconnect the serial port
6.  Connect to the service port via a network connection and open a terminal session to the VLE.
7.  Log on to the VLE with the known user id and password
8.  Issue the command: pfbash to get root priviledges
9.  Issue the command: pgrep SystemStatus.pl
    (this will get the process id to kill in the next step)
10. Issue the command: kill -9 9789
    (9789 was the process id)
11. Issue the command: svcadm disable StatusService
12. Issue the command: svcs StatusService
    (Status service should now appear as disabled.)
13. Issue the command: svcadm enable StatusService
14. Issue the command: svcs StatusService
    (status service should now appear as online.)
