Symptoms


Customer reports z/OS host SYSLOG SIM messages with FSC32C0 embedded in the message.

Example:
SLS6659I VTSS VTSS1 SIM:5090100000008FE0329080009E001A104200105C000032C00510420110068012

SLS6974I FAULT REPORTED BY VTSS:VTSS1 MODEL:VSMx SERIAL:xxxxxxxx FSC:32C0 FRU:xxx

Note:  SIM Sense Bytes 22 & 23 are 32C0.

Fault symptom codes other than 32C0 may occur with messages SLS6659I and SLS6974I and are beyond the scope of this article.

Cause


Defective channel card

CSE: @SAME
ENG: An ICE CIP memory parity check 2 error was detected.
This error occurs when the CIP reads one of its memory
locations and bad parity is present on the data word.

Solution

Open a service request for further analysis.
Include the complete text of the SLS messages.

VSM remote support will perform the following tasks:

  1. Connect to VSM and acquire a set of base files.
  2. Place files on zenobia.
  3. Run the crunch_it all.
  4. Review the files to check for FSC 32C0 and identify card type, location, part number.
  5. Create Field Service Task for local to replace defective channel card.
