Information in this document applies to HSC connected SL8500 libraries.

Symptoms

SL8500 CAP in auto mode and get message SLS2259A when attempting to eject tapes.
Verified CAP door is closed and magazine is installed properly.
SLS2259A CAP 00:01:00 UNLOCKED; MAGAZINE(S) INSTALLED IMPROPERLY OR CAP NOT CLOSED COMPLETELY

Cause

This problem can occur in an HSC connected SL8500 with microcode levels FRS-6.01 through SPS-6.04.  An SLS2259A message can be displayed when ejecting cartridges on one host after entering cartridges on another host.

Solution

Open and close the CAP door to allow the Eject function to continue.

To prevent this problem in the future, install the HSC maintenance listed below, which are required along with SLS8500 microcode SPS-6.05.  Until the maintenance can be applied, run the ejects and enters from the same host.

The HSC PTFs are as follows:
  • HSC/VM 6.2 - L1H16B1
  • HSC/MVS 6.2 - L1H16B2
  • ELS 7.0 - L1H16B3
  • ELS 7.1 - L1H16B5
Instructions for downloading current maintenance are available in <Document 1016459.1>.
